Thinking about seeing if I can get this Mountainking Electronics Megalith pedal as a Christmas gift. The video's a bit boring up until like halfway through, there's also a bass demo for it. Sweet sweet sweet fuzz. If you're going for that specific fuzz tone, then yeah it looks great. I'm more into the hendrix mars volta kind of fuzz stuff so if it was me I'd go for a swollen pickle or something. But that is definitely a cool tone. Really lives up to the name. I'm actually kinda gassing for one now. It sounded like crap to me. Ironically, this is sort of the entire point of the pedal. -------------------- Current Rig: -Gibson Les Paul Classic Cinnamon Burst -Ibanez RG550DX -Fractal Audio Axe-FX -Carvin DCM600 -VHT Fatbottom 4x12 -Lopoline 2x12 -Liquid Foot pro Midi Controller |

We have the swollen pickle at work, but I was turned off by it's tracking, it seemed to lose lower notes. It'd be legit for that type of quirky unpredictable fuzz. I want something that can make my guitar sound like a synth bass. I've always liked Brian Cook's bass fuzz tones, but I'm not sure what type of gear he's using nowadays except Gibson basses.
I kind of miss my Line 6 FM4, so many weird filter effects. -------------------- |

Brian Cook uses a Big Muff and recently a swollen pickle. Aye... Next time, I'll dick with both of 'em again, but through the store's DSL, V30 cab, and a PRS/Gibby so I know what my setup would sound roughly like. I will say this, almost every demo pedal we have up has been beat to shit and is just barely able to function. Perhaps rockin' one new from the box would change my thoughts. Noteworthy though, he actually does play a fuzzed bass, whereas I want something to make it sound like I am. I think the megalith has that vibe I dig. It'd be nice if I ended up liking the Muff or a swollen pickle, they'd be a helluva lot cheaper. -------------------- |

Has anyone gotten the chance to check out the Morpheus Droptune Guitar Octave Guitar Pedal. It seems like a good idea.

I'm assuming it is poorly executed, i'll have to head to guitar center soon, as I need to check out quite a bit of things. Hopefully they'll have one of these set up to demo. The idea is a good one though so hopefully they will work on it and improve it if it is bad.

Got off class a bit early, so I headed to GC and rocked a Big Muff, doesn't have that uber-brute bass sound. We didn't have a non-demo swollen pickle and I didn't have enough time to move a decent amp over or take it off the display, but I think the Megalith is one, unless I can get my FM4 up and running and then I might just settle for 4 presets of weird shit vs. 1 super sweet fuzz. I also still have the expression pedal for all sortsa other crazy stuff.

Good idea, most likely bad execution. Buy it and see how good it sounds. i have never heard a pitch shifter that sounded good. Pitch shifting is an effect, it is nothing more than that. Just like delay is an effect and flanger is an effect. Also when the pedal mention "different" tunings, it doesn't really mean it. You could easily just solve the problem that his pedal "does", all you need to do is tune to your lowest tuning and use a capo for high tunings. I did this all the time when I was in a cover band. In my current set, I switch between: EADGBE, DADGBE, DADGBD, and DADF#AD (all 1/2 step down). I think this pedal is just another pitch shifter with a fancy name and a high price. -------------------- |

Decided today that I am not happy with whatever speakers are in this Matchless 2x12. And it's not the cab. The cab sounds great. It is definitely the cones.
So after much deliberation and research I have decided to go with an Eminence GB128 (greenback clone) and a Weber Blue Dog (alnico speaker). I have always wanted a more vintagey 2x12 and I have had stellar experiences with Eminence. Hopefully the weber will sound good too. I've heard nice things. -------------------- Current Rig: -Gibson Les Paul Classic Cinnamon Burst -Ibanez RG550DX -Fractal Audio Axe-FX -Carvin DCM600 -VHT Fatbottom 4x12 -Lopoline 2x12 -Liquid Foot pro Midi Controller |
