hey there

i have the ns-2 and i was just wondering is it possible to run it between amp head and cab?

is this a good idea or is there a better solution?
James...
No no no... That wouldn't work.

Just put it at the beginning of you effects chain after the tuner.
Ddjembe Mutombo
sure if you want to blow something, be my guest and put it between your head and cab....

I have never used a noise suppressor, but I do know putting it in that area will not be good. That is like using an expensive instrument cable as a speaker cable...
Jesse.
Suppressors/Hum Eliminators/etc are designed to be used at the end of your signal path. The only other solution would be to use a power conditioner that produces pure AC, which would set you back at least a grand.

Throw the NS-2 at the very end of your chain, and that should eliminate the issue.

edit: Ideally, your signal chain should look like this:

With Effects Loop: Guitar > Volume/Wah > Preamp/Overdrive/Distortion > Compressor/Sustainer > EQ (honestly can be wherever you want it, but most people throw it here) > Noise Suppressor > Amp. Then you should run your modulation effects (delays, verbs) through your FX loop. Typically like this: Reverb > Delay > Phase/Flange/Tremolo/Vibrato/etc.

Without Effects Loop: Same as above, but run your modulation effects right after your Comp/Sustainer and right before your NS-2.

Hope that helps...

ok thanks man

im currently running without the effects loop (beore the amp input) but im looking to swtich to the effects loop because i have my wireless back.

so i have 2 questions

1- if i run the effects board through the loop will the ns-2 still be as affective in niose reduction

and

2- is my setup parrallel or serial
Ddjembe Mutombo
Tell me what amp you have and I can probably tell you what your effects loop is.

You can choose between serial or parallel. Do you seriously not know how to read labels underneath buttons on the back of the amp?
Paulio
of course i no how to read!!!

i just want to no wat each one does and wats the best setup!!

and

wether or not the ns2 will work the same through the preamp in/out

Well i think that u should do this because its a NS-2 which i use

Guitar -> NS-2 then the send should go through ur pedals so it cuts out the shit u dont want and after return,
you have your tuner then delays those are the only things out of the loop of the send and return if u dont understand heres a picture..
IPB Image

So my Les Paul goes into the Ns then the send goes to my chorus pedal (blue) then distortion (orange) then back to the Ns and then out of that is the tuner (gray) and then Digital delay (white/blue)

All of this is shown on your NS-2 manual

run the NS-2 in front of the amp like everyone else has been saying.

The parallel loop runs the FX next to the preamp signal while the serial actually runs the preamp signal through the effects loop. Using parallel will reduce tone loss a little, but mostly it is personal preference.

The preamp out/poweramp in is there for volume pedals and/or bypassing the preamp or poweramp. It isn't an effects loop

ok thanks

does any anyknow how beau and justin run there effects.

like in which order, what goes where etc.?
Ddjembe Mutombo
Who cares?

You can run your effects in whatever order you want. Tell me what effects you have and I will tell you what is probably the most logical order.
