I intern at a branch of Sony BMG, and unless you are actually in the industry, you know that the industry isn't actually "falling apart". It is just readapting.
10 to 1, Capitol isn't going under, they are just "reorganizing" because I bet they figured their traditional methods of marketing were no long as effective. So what if the president stepped down, he is probably retiring, or he could have been apart of the reorganization process as well.
I actually believe there will always be major labels because there will always be a demand for the commercial garbage they produce and put on the radio. Unlike the majority of this board, a lot of people really don't have much of a taste in music and will listen to whatever genre is on the radio as long as it is in a general genre they find appealing.
I read in the article that sony BMG is buying EMI? Virgin and Crapitol are both owned by EMI?
